What is Morpheus8? Simply put, it uses microneedles to deliver radiofrequency energy under the skin to remodel tissue. This stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin that rejuvenates, thickens and tightens the skin and underlying tissue, giving a more youthful appearance. Results can be seen after a single treatment but for longer lasting results, 3 treatments are generally done spaced about 1 month apart. The treatment itself takes about 30-45 minutes, depending on what is being treated. A topical anaesthetic is used to minimize any discomfort. Treatment feels somewhat “spicy” with the sensation of pinpricks and some heat, but it is very tolerable with the proper numbing. There is little to no downtime post treatment. The skin will be red for a few hours and a post treatment skin care kit with cleanser, anti-inflammatory and soothing skin balm is recommended. You will see noticeable results 10-14 days post treatment.

IPL or Intense Pulsed Light uses light energy that specifically targets pigmented and vascular lesions, resulting in a more uniform and youthful skin tone and texture. It is especially effective for those with rosacea, as it effectively targets the source of inflammation, resulting in less skin redness and improved dry eye symptoms. Anyone with lighter skin will benefit from the rejuvenating effect of IPL on the skin, often known as a “photofacial.”
There is no downtime with treatment but in order to be effective, candidates for treatment should stay out of the sun and use high SPF sunscreen prior to treatment. The use of retinol and Vitamin A creams also should be discontinued prior to and during the course of treatment.
Treatment is relatively painless, with a slight “snapping” sensation that some describe similar to a rubber band. Results of treatment will be seen within a few days, with long lasting results after 3 to 4 treatments spaced a few weeks apart, depending on the condition being treated. Lumecca technology is superior to many other IPL technologies as it targets the pigment and vessels more effectively, with better results in fewer treatments and with greater comfort. As with any IPL, this technology cannot safely be used on darker skin.
